The Project

Arc Manbre Wharf is a new 150,000 square foot, start-of-the-art campus homing science innovation in West London. Offering labs, offices and event spaces, this revamped development on Hammersmith’s iconic riverside forms part of a regeneration project – to create modern, light-filled workplaces with improved amenities.

Kier, the primary contractor active travel facilities to support workplace wellbeing and meet sustainability goals.

The Brief

• Semi-Vertical Racks (194 in total)
• Bespoke Westminster Clothing Lockers (186 compartments)
• Towel Stations, Drying Lockers & Shower Benches

The solution had to deliver BREEAM-compliant capacity, Made-in-Britain quality, and a clean architectural finish.

Our Solution

Following a detailed assessment of the architectural plans and project brief, we developed a bespoke, robust, specification-aligned active travel package. This included:

High Density Cycle Storage

Our durable Semi Vertical Bike Racks are the focal point of the installation with 194 parking spaces, located in the building’s private basement. The racks were specified to be:

• Hot-dipped galvanised steel to BS EN ISO 1461:2022
• Modular extendable format
• Space-saving design
• High-security locking hoops
• BREEAM-compliant
• Designed for high-density workplace storage
• Made-in-Britain

End-of-Trip Facilities

To provide employees with an elevated commuting experience, the client opted for a full travel suite enabling cyclists to shower, change their clothes, and store belongings. This included our:

Westminster Clothing Lockers

• Premium HPL doors
• Generous depth
• Integrated hardwood bench
• Moisture resistant carcasses, premium laminate finishes, concealed hinges, plinths and adjustable feet
• Made to order

Airing Stations

• Vented carcasses to circulate airflow
• Integrated hanging rail with anti-theft hangers
• Durable doors
• Moisture resistant bodies
• Shoe baskets for secure, ventilated storage

Towel Stations

• Integrated towel bins to store used towels discreetly
• Ample storage capacity (holds 25-30 towels per unit)
• Doors and panels finished to match the wider locker specification

Shower Benches

• Cantilevered steel frames with compact laminate slats

Digital Access Controlled Lockers

DigiLock Sola 3 RFID locking system for enhanced security and user experience.

Quality, Compliance & Installation

The Arc Manbre Wharf project demanded precise planning and strict QA processes on our side – a standard service we provide clients. This involved quality assurance of locker alignment and levelling, screw caps, testing hinges, laminate surface checks, securing bench seating and more.

Our Inspection & Test Plan covered:

• Pre-installation inspections
• Component identification & damage checks
• Timber laminate panel assembly
• Fitting lockers, benching & Armco barriers
• Final clean, tidy and client acceptance

The project was delivered on programme, with every component Made-in-Britain and installed to specification.

The result is a modern, future-proofed active travel hub at Arc Manbre Wharf, demonstrating our expertise in delivering multi-package solutions (racks + lockers + benches) within tight site conditions – and in collaboration with a Tier 1 contractor like Kier.

The picturesque riverside location attracts many cyclists who now benefit from secure bike parking and end-of-trip convenience. A low maintenance amenity that now supports tens of thousands of commuters over the building’s lifecycle.

Our installation was completed with full compliance and documentation:

• 10-year product warranty (excluding moving parts)
• 12-month installation defects warranty
• Full QA documentation and handover packs
• Conformity certificates covering the entire installation
• Installation by TBSC’s in-house team for complete control and consistency.
