Bow Bells House is a premium commercial workplace development in the City of London, linking the Bank of England and St Paul’s Cathedral. The 216,000 sq ft office building on Bread Street underwent a creative renewal, delivered for Fabrix, with IKON Group Ltd as the main contractor and White Red Architects leading the architectural vision.
The Bike Storage Company was appointed as a trusted partner to deliver an end-of-trip (EOT) cycle facility in the basement area of the building. To be treated as a key feature of the development (not as an afterthought), we delivered a highly coordinated, design-led solution within a constrained footprint.
The result? A seamless, high-specification environment that supports modern workplace expectations around cycling, wellbeing and active travel. We were involved in early-stage layout planning through to manufacturing and installation.
The brief called for a comprehensive solution that balanced capacity, durability, and architectural quality. Our mission was to design a space that employees actually want to use, helping them feel empowered to cycle to work.
Within the basement level, we delivered:
All of this needed to be achieved while working around existing structural and MEP constraints – including sprinkler pipework, mechanical ducting, and access requirements to below-ground services.
A key focus of the project was delivering commercial clothing lockers that aligned with the premium interior specification of the wider development. Warm wooden accents. Minimalist design. Monotone palette. A fresh, modern feel.
40 units in a two-tier configuration, delivering 80 compartments, were installed within the changing areas. These lockers feature:
Our Westminster Lockers are customisable with flexible locking options, a choice of finishes and sizes, and ventilation and heating options. Not to mention, all our lockers are proudly Made in Britain.
A further 37 units (74 compartments) were delivered using the same HPL and MFC carcass specification, ensuring a consistent, coordinated finish across both male and female facilities.
The result is a locker system that balances robustness with refined detailing – suitable for high-end commercial workplaces where aesthetics and performance carry equal weight. Our Camden Lockers can also be customised to seamlessly integrate with your development.
To complete the end-of-trip offering, The Bike Storage Company incorporated additional functional elements that enhance day-to-day usability:
These features support a workplace environment where users can transition seamlessly from commute to desk – reinforcing the importance of well-considered EOT facilities in modern developments.
The main event? High-density workplace bike storage to ensure employees can securely park their bike in the basement of Bow Bells House – nicely hidden away from busy streets. The cycle storage strategy focused on maximising capacity without compromising usability.
Three bays of two-tier racks provide 150 cycle spaces, with:
The layout ensures that even at peak usage, the facility remains intuitive and efficient for occupiers, now and in the future.
A defining success of the Bow Bells House project was our involvement at the early layout planning stage, working directly from the architect’s construction drawings. Early alignment was key to ensure all bases were covered, minimising any potential risks at a later stage.
Key considerations included:
This level of coordination ensured that every element of the EOT facility worked cohesively – both spatially and operationally.
All products were manufactured in Britain to The Bike Storage’s standard specification and installed by our professional fitting teams.
Working within a central London basement environment required:
The result is a clean, precise installation that aligns with the architectural intent and withstands the demands of a high-traffic commercial building.
Bow Bells House now benefits from a fully integrated end-of-trip facility that supports cycling, wellbeing, and sustainable commuting.
The completed space:
As modern workplace expectations continue to evolve, end-of-trip facilities are no longer optional – they are a core component of workplace design. The boom in cycling isn’t stopping anytime soon.
At Bow Bells House, the integration of cycle storage, commercial clothing lockers, and supporting amenities demonstrates how a well-executed EOT strategy can elevate both functionality and perception.
For architects, developers, and contractors, the project highlights the value of engaging a specialist partner early – ensuring that design, coordination, and delivery are aligned from day one.
