Court Place Gardens, Oxford

Project Overview

Court Place Gardens is a landmark residential development by Oxford University, designed to provide high-quality sustainable housing for post-graduate students and their families. With 71 new-build homes constructed to Passivhaus principles, alongside the refurbished Grade II listed Mansion House, the scheme place sustainability, community, and long-term durability at its core.

To complement the development’s eco-conscious design including solar panels, air source heat pumps, and a fossil fuel-free infrastructure. We were selected to design and install a series of bespoke cycle and bin storage solutions.

Project Requirements

As with any large-scale student accommodation scheme, storage needed to be:

• Secure: Delivering peace of mind for residents with durable access-controlled facilities.
• Sustainable: Reflecting the site’s green ethos with options like sedum green roofing and BREEAM compliant cycle racks.
• High capacity: Accommodating Oxford’s thriving cycling culture while managing the practicalities of waste and recycling.
• Aesthetically aligned: Ensuring new structures complemented the broader scheme’s modern yet sensitive architectural design.

Our Solution

We delivered a series of bespoke Greenwich Bin & Cycle Stores, tailored to the development’s requirements.

Cycle Storage

• Install multiple Greenwich Cycle Stores, offering secure, ventilated, and weather-protected solutions.
• Incorporation of Gas Assisted Two Tier Racks (Sheffield Lowers) for ease of use and maximised space efficiency.
• A total provision of more than 140 dedicated cycle storage spaces, ensuring excellent resident provision.

Bin Storage

• Supply and install Greenwich Bin Stores, which are designed with robust hot-dip galvanised steel frames and powder-coated finishes.
• Integrating fire-rated steel panel upgrades and intumescent coating, meeting stringent safety standards.
• Sedum green roof options to enhance biodiversity and align with the sustainability agenda of the development.

Key Features Delivered

• Sedum Roofing Systems across select stores, contributing to biodiversity net gain and stormwater management.
• Access controlled gates for resident-only entry, improving security across the scheme.
• Made in Britain manufacturing ensures quality assurance and reduced transport emissions
• Fire safety upgrades to meet regulatory compliance for bin storage in high-density residential setting.
