Britain’s sixth largest supermarket retailer, Lidl has rapidly expanded over the past decade with the grocer now having over 800 stores open nationwide.
At the heart of Lidl’s operations is their network of 13 strategically located depots around the country, the flagship of which is their brand new 1.2 million sq. ft distribution centre on the outskirts of Luton.
The largest depot that Lidl has globally, the site will be the workplace for 1,200 new recruits and our team was tasked with delivering them a cycle shelter that was both secure and BREEAM compliant.
To meet the requirements necessary for completing this project, the team designed and delivered a bespoke 52 space Premium Security Enclosure with galvanised toastrack cycle parking solution.
Our team of designers also took extra care to ensure that the materials used would blend seamlessly into the state-of-the-art facilities, using a galvanised BS EN ISO 1461:2022 framework with a specially selected RAL 7016 powder coating to complement the warehouse’s façade.
To achieve the project’s security requirements, the team delivered front and side elevations with 200 x 50 aperture twin-wire security mesh and a single leaf galvanised mesh swing gate with access control for staff to enter the shelter.
The team were also tasked with delivering a bespoke smoking shelter, which utilised toughened laminate glass to provide users with protection from the elements.
This was an exciting project to be a part of and we are proud to have designed and fitted a product that matches Lidl’s own ethos of delivering high quality products at a reasonable price.
