3 Rivergate is a premium commercial workplace development in Bristol, designed to meet the high standards of modern workers. Light-filled rooms. Contemporary accents. Cutting-edge design. High-quality features. This 75,000 sq ft development in Temple Quay’s business district puts both sustainability and the end-user at the heart of the project.
The Bike Storage Company was appointed to deliver a cohesive, design-led end-of-trip cycle solution, aligned with the building’s wider architectural vision. This involved bespoke lockers and benching in the male and female changing areas, alongside dedicated seating in the drying room.
The emphasis was on delivering a refined, long-lasting space that complemented the building’s interior design specification while supporting high footfall. As leaders in premium bike storage and end-of-trip facilities, it was a pleasure to be trusted partners on the project.
With cycling and active commuting becoming integral to workplace strategy, the basement level was carefully designed to include dedicated end-of-trip facilities that support wellbeing and sustainable travel.
Our design and installation included:
To achieve the required capacity within a compact footprint, TBSC supplied sleek Westminster Lockers in a two-door Z configuration. This allowed 84 compartments to be delivered efficiently without compromising circulation or user comfort.
To further increase capacity, an additional 27 three-tier lockers were introduced within the layout, ensuring flexibility across the changing areas.
All lockers were manufactured with heavy-duty concealed hinges, robust steel construction and vinyl numbering, providing a durable solution designed for daily commercial use. The selected finishes were coordinated across both male and female spaces to maintain visual consistency throughout.
User comfort and spatial flow were central to the design approach.
Cantilever benching was integrated directly into locker runs, creating a clean and efficient layout while maintaining clear floor space beneath. This not only supports ease of cleaning and maintenance but also enhances the overall aesthetic of the changing areas.
Hardwood bench slats were specified to elevate the finish quality and provide a warm, tactile contrast to the steel locker units. The result is a considered balance of durability and comfort, reinforcing the premium feel of the workplace environment.
Recognising the importance of supporting modern commuters, Rivergate also factored in a dedicated drying room. This is a heated, ventilated space for employees to dry wet clothes quickly.
We installed a purpose-built bench with matching hardwood seating within this space, ensuring continuity of design language across all end-of-trip areas. The drying room facilities provide a practical yet well-considered solution for employees cycling in all weather conditions – further encouraging active travel into the daily workplace routine.
Here’s how workplace bike storage encourages eco-friendly commuting
A huge success factor in this project was early coordination with 3 Rivergate’s architectural team, who reached out to us during their initial planning phases.
Locker layouts were developed directly from architectural drawings, with careful consideration given to circulation, sightlines, design, and user flow. Male and female changing room configurations were individually assessed to ensure optimal capacity while maintaining generous movement space.
The outcome is a clean, uncluttered environment to accommodate high footfall without compromising usability or aesthetics. Every locker, bench and transition space was designed to feel intentional and integrated.
A true reflection of why early collaboration is key.
All lockers and benching were proudly Made in Britain, ensuring quality control, a consistency of finish and a lower carbon footprint.
Installation was carried out with meticulous attention to alignment, levelling and detailing. Close communication with the contractor team ensured accurate execution and minimal disruption on site, allowing the end-of-trip facilities to be delivered seamlessly within the wider construction programme.
TBSC’s commitment to sustainability makes us a go-to partner for modern commercial developments looking for design-led end-of-trip facilities. Not to mention, we only deliver BREEAM-accredited products, including high-quality bike racks, E-bike storage, bike lockers, cycle shelters and more.
Rivergate now benefits from a high-quality end-of-trip facility that supports cycling, active travel and employee wellbeing. All future-proofed for long-term use, making it well worth the investment. The contemporary look and feel that seamlessly aligns with 3 Rivergate interiors makes it a desired space for current and future employees.
The finished spaces reflect the building’s premium positioning while meeting the practical demands of a busy commercial workplace.
For architects, developers and workplace teams, Rivergate demonstrates how carefully planned end-of-trip facilities can enhance user experience and support modern workplace expectations — without compromising design quality or durability.
