Ryder Street

Delivering modern active travel facilities in a premium office refurbishment

Project

We are proud to support the refurbishment of 14 Ryder Street, a prime office building in the heart of St James’s, London. Led by Garnett Architecture, the project transformed two lower floors, approximately 1,100sqm, into high-quality Cat A+ office space complete with new services, finishes, showers, and breakout areas.

As part of this fast-track fit out, we were appointed to design, manufacture, and install a bespoke cycle storage and locker solution to meet the needs of modern workplace users and align with BREEAM standards.

Our Solution

Bespoke Greenwich Two-Tier Cycle Shelter

At the core of the project was a 22-space Greenwich Two-Tier Cycle Shelter manufactured in Britain and engineered to withstand the demands of daily commuter use.

Key features included:

  • Gas assisted upper tiers for ease of use and improved accessibility
  • Twin-wire security mesh cladding in PPC black for durability and security
  • Strengthened roof structure with a full sedum green roof system, supporting the client’s sustainability goals
  • Secure gate access with digital locking
  • Fully BREEAM compliant and hot-dipped galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461:2022

This solution offered not only high-capacity storage but also a design that completed the premium nature of the refurbishment, providing both functionality and visual integration.

Folding Bike Locker & End of Trip Facilities

Recognising the rise in folding bike users within central London, we installed Two Tier Brompton-compatible lockers, powder coated in a bold RAL 1016 Sulphur Yellow.

These included:

  • Integrated DigiLock access control for user security
  • Robust steel construction with perforated doors for ventilation

In addition, a suite of Westminster Lockers was installed, combining Z-door and overhead compartments with integrated bench seating. High-pressure laminate finishes in dark wood tones, creating a premium design consistent with the wider office refurbishment.

Project Impact

The facilities at 14 Ryder Street deliver:

  • 22 secure cycle parking storage in a compact footprint
  • Dedicated lockers and showers, encouraging active commuting
  • A sedum green roof system, contributing to biodiversity and enhancing sustainability credentials
  • A future-proofed workplace asset, designed for longevity and heavy use

By blending robust engineering with architectural detail, we ensured the new cycle facilities were as practical as they were aligned with the design brief of the project.

Why It Matters

In central London, demand for high-quality active travel infrastructure continues to grow. For developers, landlords and tenants, providing secure, well-designed cycle facilities is no longer optional, it’s an expectation that adds value to assets and supports sustainable travel targets.

At Ryder Street, our installation delivered a resilient, user-friendly, and visually integrated solution that will serve tenants for years to come.
