Having been approached recently for the refuse and cycle storage on a housing developer’s latest East London project, comprising 90 studio, one and two-bedroom apartments. With such a historical canal-side site, the need for an in-keeping cycle/refuse store was never more prevalent. As such, our in-house design team created a bespoke Amazon Eco Shelter, splitting the refuse and cycle storage across two secure areas.
Fully clad in FSC-certified cedar timber, the compound was a striking addition to the development. It offers storage for 15Nr 1,000-litre refuse bins and Two-Tier Cycle parking for 90Nr bikes. Additionally, the compound had a full PIR lighting system and a swipe card access system incorporated into residents’ existing access control. These two additions enhanced the user experience and ensured full BREEAM compliance for this aspect of the project.
As with all Bike Storage Company projects, the project received a full 10-year manufacturing warranty and a 15-year no-rust or rot warranty. It also received a 2-year pro-active maintenance package comprising bi-annual visits to ensure the proper maintenance of all products. Upon a recent inspection, we were glad to see a 90% capacity of the cycle racks and look forward to the next project.
