Frequently Asked Questions
Here are answers to common specification and installation questions regarding Perforated Mesh.
What is perforated mesh typically used for in cycle storage projects?
Perforated mesh is commonly specified as side or rear cladding for cycle shelters and secure compounds. It enhances security while maintaining airflow and visibility, creating a robust yet visually lightweight enclosure solution.
Does perforated mesh restrict visibility?
The perforation pattern is designed to balance privacy with passive surveillance. While it provides a physical barrier to deter unauthorised access, it still allows visibility into and out of the compound, supporting safer environments.
Is perforated mesh suitable for outdoor environments?
Yes. When galvanised and/or powder-coated, perforated mesh offers strong resistance to corrosion and weather exposure, making it suitable for long-term external applications across commercial and public sector developments.
Can perforated mesh be customised?
Yes. Panels can be supplied in a range of sizes and powder-coated in various RAL colours to align with architectural treatments, branding requirements or planning conditions.
How does perforated mesh improve security compared to open shelters?
Adding perforated mesh to a shelter transforms it into a more secure enclosure by limiting direct access points and reducing opportunistic theft. It is often used in conjunction with access-controlled gates to create fully secure cycle compounds.
Is technical support available during specification?
Yes. Technical drawings and layout guidance are available to support architects and contractors during the specification process, ensuring seamless integration with shelters, racks and compound layouts.
